Judge DENIES State of Maine’s Motion to Stay
State to take to Court of Appeals

In February of this year, Lance E. Walker Chief U.S. District Judge’s granted the Plaintiff’s Request for a Preliminary Injunction, Pausing the 72-Hour Waiting Period until further notice (read HERE).

On February 17th, 2025: The State of Maine Attorney General Frey has filed a Notice of Appeal to the First Circuit Court of Appeals, as well as a Motion to Stay

On March 10th, the Plaintiff’s attorneys filed their response to the State’s request for a Motion to Stay, read HERE 

On March 11th, The State of Maine filed their opposition to the Plaintiff’s response, read HERE.

On March 12th, Judge Walker DENIED the State’s request – the 72-Hour Waiting period for the purchase of some firearms remains in effect! Read HERE

On March 12th the State of Maine filed, in the First Circuit Court of Appeals, their motion for stay of the preliminary injunction order pending appeal, seeking to reverse Judge Walker’s ruling and re-institute the 72-Hour Waiting Period until a final judgment is made. Read HERE
